New York - Christie’s is proud to present the second edition of its new and enormously successful Modern American Art sale, taking place at Rockefeller Center, 18 April 2024. This curated selection of 20th-century American paintings, works on paper, and sculpture is led by Milton Avery’s vibrant Female Painter of 1945.  The sale also includes significant paintings by Thomas Hart Benton, Charles Burchfield and Fairfield Porter, as well as a stunning selection of still lifes that includes Georgia O’Keeffe’s Blue Morning Glory and Florine Stettheimer’s Tulips Under a Canopy.  American Illustration is also a highlight with Maxfield Parrish’s masterwork Ottaquechee River, two works by N.C. Wyeth, and Saturday Evening Post covers by Norman Rockwell, Kurt Ard, and others. The auction features two notable collections: The Solomon-Kempler Family Collection which includes Charles Henry Demuth’s The Juggler and works by the rare-to-market, female artist Florine Stettheimer which were gifted by the artist to her attorney, Joseph Solomon. Benton’s White Horse and Fairfield Porter’s White Boats hail from the distinguished Collection of Lois and Philip Macht of Baltimore.

Christie’s is also proud to announce, Now and Then | Illustrations by Kurt Ard, a private selling exhibition dedicated to the charming paintings of the internationally renowned illustrator. It will be on view 12-17 April and online through 31 May.
