Hong Kong Christie’s Hong Kong is delighted to present an exceptional lineup for the Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art sale, which will take place on 30 May 2024. The sale features more than 200 extraordinary artworks, spanning from the Neolithic to the Republic period, ranging from ceramics and Imperial works of art, to Buddhist sculptures and Chinese classical furniture, with exceptional provenance, and from renowned private collections worldwide.

Leading the sale is a pair of important and extremely rare huanghuali yoke-back armchairs, sichutouguanmaoyi, dating to the 17th century (left image above), which are constructed of fine huanghuali with extraordinary craftsmanship, and are distinguished by the elaborate and refined carving, particularly the pierced medallions in the splats.
