THE DR A. BOTENGA CELLAR: SIX DECADES OF COLLECTING

LONDON – On 1 December, Christie’s London concluded the auction of the outstanding single-owner collection of wines by collector Dr A. Botenga, The Dr A. Botenga Cellar: Six Decades of Collecting Part II, a live sale at King Street which achieved a total of £1,838,900 / HK$18,241,888. This follows part I of the auction in Hong Kong in November, bringing the combined total for this extraordinary collection to £6,116,612 / HK$60,270,888.

Part II of the sale included Bordeaux’s most esteemed wines from the region’s golden era of winemaking and First Growths from all the renowned Bordeaux châteaux, spanning vintages dating back to 1914 and encompassing every five-star vintage from both pre- and post-war years. Spanning decades and continents, Dr A. Botenga’s cellar is one of the greatest wine collections to come to auction, and offered a rare chance for collectors to own iconic wines curated with unrivalled expertise and passion.
